Paul Wright-
Growing up in Eugene, Oregon didn’t give Paul Wright enough sunshine to sing about but maybe that’s a good thing. Because when the sun came out he noticed it. His optimistic feel good blend of acoustic/reggae/hip-hop music has an infectious vibe that puts smiles on the most down and out in the crowd.
Raised in a family of musicians and entertainers (His mother/sister music teacher, father poet/actor/drama director and grandfather world war II bandmaster) Wright immersed himself in the arts from an early age. But it was the love he had for basketball that put him through college on a scholarship treating music like a neglected girlfriend. He kept flirting with it playing coffee shop gigs throughout Eugene on the side. Near the end of his education and after his last year of hoops Wright decided it was time to commit and spent the last year studying music in Martha’s Vineyard at the Contemporary Music Center.
Since Wright has released two albums nationally on Gotee Records and has had four songs reach top 5 on CHR radio. Touring the country three times over has helped Wright build a niche that follows his music and writing faithfully online. An avid writer one stop on his myspace site and a glance at his blogs will reveal that Wright works hard at remaining in touch with his fans.
In 2006, Wright moved to San Diego and started his own company (Rootdown Sound). “Rootdown is more than a label,” Wright says. “It is a mentality that comes from an artist growing a grassroots following. It is a way of life and an education only experience can teach.” He is currently working on a new CD/Book in which the songs are based on the story of the novella. The CD itself is like a soundtrack to a movie describing the emotion within the characters and foreshadowing the plot.
As for Wright, he hopes to continue reaching new listeners of all walks of life.
“I'd like my music heard by those who listen to music for inspiration in their walk with God as well as those that are still searching for answers. I think it's a challenge to find that balance, that venue, that distribution, that record label and perhaps that song. It'd be nice to be known simply as who I am and let my life, heart and art do the talking rather than marketed with a banner or tag in which many preconceived and sometimes misconstrued generalizations stem from in a market that doesn’t spend much money on targeting non-Christians.”
Wright continues to live in San Diego working and playing hard in the sunshine.

Surrogate
Northern California's Surrogate is the brainchild of multi-instrumentalists Chris Keene and Jordan Mallory. In 2005 Number One Gun made their Tooth & Nail debut with "Promises For the Imperfect," which brought the band nationally acclaimed recognition for their generous pop hooks and driving melodies. After some needed rest, singer and songwriter Jeff Schneeweis takes the engineering helm on the follow up entitled "The North Pole Project." Number One Gun has grown and improved on the rock formula that brought them success, and continues to push the limits of what defines them as a band. Brighten
Chico, CA-based three-piece Brighten certainly owe much of their growing popularity to the modern music marketing marvel that is the Internet. From selling copies of their self-released EP on Smartpunk.com to hooking up with Hawthorne Heights front man JT Woodruff—who eventually signed the band to his new Carbon Copy Media record label—via online buzz machine Absolutepunk.net, Brighten's success has taken off. However, the members of Brighten: bassist/vocalist, Alex Draper; drummer, Jimmy Richards; and his brother, guitarist/keyboardist/vocalist Justin Richards, also built their name the old-fashioned way: taking their show on the road. Though only officially together for a year, Brighten already have more than their fair share of touring experience, going cross-country with bands like Eisley and Lydia and meeting their online following face to face.
